The City of South Bend holds a special distinction in Northern Indiana for its proximity to Chicago, Cleveland, and Detroit, and is home to several universities and institutions of higher education such as Indiana University South Bend and the University of Notre Dame. South Bend is also home to the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition which brings dozens of chamber musicians every year from around the globe to compete in their Junior and Senior divisions.

Getting Here

By air: The South Bend International Airport (SBN) offers 13 non-stop flights from and to major cities across the country including Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Detroit, and others. 

By train: Travelers have the option of using AMTRAK for their choice of transportation to and from South Bend traveling from various locations across the United States. Travelers arriving in Chicago by air have the option of using the South Shore Line, operated by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) from downtown Chicago to the South Bend Airport. 

By bus: Greyhound offers buses from several destinations to downtown South Bend with flexible payment options through their mobile app or through their website. 

Getting Around

The City of South Bend offers public transportation through TRANSPO to locations within South Bend and Mishawaka as well as an interurban trolley service to 5 fixed locations. In addition, ride sharing options such as Uber and Lyft are available through their mobile apps.
